I
was born an only child in good ole “Sparkle
City”, South Carolina. Although I was not fortunate to grow up with
Godly parents in a Christian home, my life was blessed because of their
desire
for me to attend Sunday School. I am
thankful today that they religiously dropped me off at church each week
on
their way to visit my grandmother. However
at age 9, my life changed forever when Jesus
called me to
Him. My parents no longer made me go to
church as I had my own internal longing to be in God’s house praying
for the
salvation of my mom and dad. Since that
day, my greatest desire has been to live for Christ, have a Christian
family
and to serve in His ministry.
Even
as a young child, God gave me a love for music. Little
did I know that He would use these gifts in
different areas of
the music ministry in the church’s I would serve in.
As a teen, I was involved in the youth choir
and acteens at my home church in Bethesda. In
school, I played basketball, ran the mile
in track, was on student council and sang in the chorus.
I later graduated in 1977 from Broome High School
and went on to attend 2 1/2 years at USCS and 1 year at Converse College. My
major concentration in college was in
accounting with a secondary study in computer science.
I
am now the proud mother of 5 wonderful children: Bobby
(27), Matthew (25), Travis (23), Amanda
(20), Hannah (8). I also have one lovely
daughter-in-law Kasey who is married to Bobby and a soon to be
son-in-law
Kyle. As for my life right now, I know I
am where God would have me be…serving at Boiling Springs
First Baptist Church
in the Music
Ministry. I wish I could tell you that
my walk with Christ has been easy, my path always straight, and my days
filled
only with sunshine; but, one thing I can say with absolute surety, is
that God
has always been by my side “working all things for good” in my life. I owe everything I am and ever hope to be to
Him and “I press
on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me
heavenward in
Christ Jesus.”
